Chamber Adopts New Mission, Vision & Strategic Plan

by Gary Plummer, President/CEO

The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce is excited about the completion of a new strategic plan for the Chamber. The three-year plan was approved in November, 2021 after more than 200 members participated in the planning process, utilizing a membership survey and multiple focus group conversations.

A lot of the credit for the Chamber’s new vision goes to Jeff Davidson (Modern Litho), our 2021 Chamber Chairman, and Gaspare Calvaruso (Capital Region Medical Center), our 2022 Chairman. Jeff and Gaspare engaged the Executive Committee and five focus group facilitators throughout a six-month process that led to approval by the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The facilitators included Doug Galloway, Janet Wear-Enloe, Ashley Varner, Darren Heckman and Gary Wilbers.

I would encourage you to review the diagram depicting a new mission, vision and five strategic pillars for the Chamber for the next three years. Also shown are members and organizations who have stepped up to become Strategic Partners and Sponsors for each of those pillars, which includes a significant financial investment by each.

I’m particularly excited about the Chamber’s focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. We will be emphasizing inclusion on future Boards, committees and Leadership Jefferson City classes. Our goal is to develop a database of diverse businesses and increase the number of diverse participants in the Chamber. We launched our new Minority Business Council in April and already see momentum and interest building for that new Chamber affiliate.

Finally, I want to thank every Chamber member for their ongoing support. Please select the strategic goal that aligns with your own goals and let us know how you’d like to engage. The Chamber staff is extremely proud to work for each of you on a daily basis. Please never hesitate to reach out to us if the Chamber can assist you.
