Courtyard by Marriott Rises Above

One of the most recognized and visible landmarks in Jefferson City, aside from our great state capitol building, for many decades, was the former St. Mary’s Hospital as it perched above our community. In early December of 2020, Courtyard by Marriott opened the doors to a new 121 room, 4-story hotel with a bistro, bar, indoor pool, fitness center and meeting space. One of the most intriguing features of the hotel’s many amenities is the outdoor patio which offers spectacular views of the downtown and Missouri State Capitol.

What makes the new hotel most unique is the reclaimed stone from the original four-story hospital which was refurbished and used to replicate the exterior of the former St. Mary’s Hospital. Due to the multiple additions over the years, the original hospital building did not adhere to the standards under the National Registry of Historic Places. In order to maintain some of its history, the property owners (Farmers Holding Company) salvaged the stone and made arrangements to incorporate the refurbished stone on the northern and east portions of the hotel.

“We are excited to bring the Courtyard by Marriott brand and reputation to Jefferson City,” said Ken Ordyk, General Manager for the Courtyard by Marriott. “We could not be more pleased with the look and location of our newest offering.”
