It’s essential that communities recruit and retain young talent. As the Director of Membership & Special Events, Susan directs the Chamber’s Young Professionals Organization. More than 200 YP members are led by a dynamic leadership board, offering professional development, networking & recreational opportunities, along with leadership development. YP meets once a month and hears from a speaker on community issues or professional development training. It is a great way to network and grow professionally.
“For such a small investment, YP can give so much back if you show up and take advantage of all it has to offer! Young Professionals isn’t about having your name on a piece of paper, it is about the relationships you create and working together to #growjcmo. I highly recommend investing in yourself and getting involved in the long list of activities and professional development they have to offer. Young Professionals has helped to grow both me as an individual and also our business through the skills and connections I’ve created. I wish I had joined YP as soon as I moved to Jefferson City!” -Kim Slaughter – Riverbend Dentistry, Manager/Owner
YP continues to grow and become a brandable organization within the community. In addition to YP, Susan also conducts over 70 ribbon cuttings each year, as well as Pride and Progress Ribbon Cuttings for 25, 50 and 100 year anniversaries! As you can imagine, Susan stays very busy with ground breakings and Chamber events.
Susan is rarely at her desk as she’s out organizing networking and other special events for the membership, developing small group learning opportunities such as social media forums and a business leads group, and creating new benefits for our membership.
