In 1947, John L. Graves founded Graves Quality Meats in Northwest Missouri. Graves Quality Meats quickly established itself as a premier supplier of quality meat products throughout the Midwest. John Graves’ son, Dick Graves, established Graves Foods in Jefferson City in January 1968. Expanding on “center of the plate” expertise, John and Dick Graves began offering full-line frozen food to their ever-increasing clients and customers. As time passed, the father-son duo joined forces to become members of UniPro Foodservice, an independent foodservice distributor’s cooperative.
In 2021, Graves Foods began a major expansion at their current location on Big Horn Drive, south of Highway 50 on the west side of Jefferson City. Over the years, Dick Graves, his wife Tracy Graves and three sons (Cal, Forrest and Piper) have substantially grown the business to provide high-quality products and services in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa and Illinois. In addition to vast sales and service area, Graves Foods services a wide range of industries including, Healthcare, Restaurants, Education, Convenience, Hospitality, Casinos and Cash-n-Carry services.
“As a woman-owned, family-operated business in Jefferson City, we value our employees and communities we serve. We consider ourselves very fortunate to expand and contribute to our local community economically.”
– Tracy Graves, owner & CEO
Graves Foods is adding 60,000 square feet of dry and cold storage space to accommodate new clients and increased sales. This expansion will more than double the size of the existing facility. Graves expects to add 30 new employees to their current staff. The company currently employs over 200 full-time employees.
“These are unprecedented times. Our family is ready to do our part and get our country back to normal. We’ve shown our resilience through some of the most difficult of seasons and are extremely thankful to have such a strong team. They pushed through and made this expansion possible.” – Cal Graves
Graves Foods has provided quality foods and service, from their Jefferson City location, for over 50 years. Dick and Tracy Graves are “priming the pump”, with the expansion, as they anticipate continued growth and management transition to their sons – Cal, Forrest and Piper. The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Graves Foods on their long history of food service distribution and wishes them well.
